This was created using logic 5.5 on a PC.

To get started, first copy this layer into your AUTOLOAD song, then cable the Proteus Mixer to the MIDI port you're using for your P2k. Everything else cable's into the mixer via the P2k multi instrument, so you don't have to worry about connecting all the objects - just the mixer..!

Notice there are only 9 front panel knobs in this environment. That's because the other 3 are on the mixer. The reverb, chorus and LPF cutoff mixer knobs correspond to the standard GM controllers. In order for these to function, you need to set your P2k to the following values.

Reverb = knob K - controller No. 91

Chorus = knob L - controller No. 93

LPF    = knob A - controller No. 74

The remaining 9 knobs, just below the mixer, use the following controller No's.

Resonance = knob B - controller No. 22
Shape     = knob C - controller No. 23
Image     = knob D - controller No. 24
Attack    = knob E - controller No. 25
Dec-Rel   = knob F - controller No. 26
Movement  = knob G - controller No. 27
Rate      = knob H - controller No. 28
Dynamic 1 = knob I - controller No. 78
Dynamic 2 = knob J - controller No. 79

If you need to, you can either edit these values in the parameter box, or change the settings on your P2k. It's up to you, just as long as they match. Use the "CHANNEL" button to select MIDI channel.

All knob movements can be recorded, but you won't see them move when you play it back. That's just the way logic's environment works I'm afraid.

The EFFECTS section is pretty straightforward. If you're just using the main stereo outputs you can choose 1 of 4 send amounts for each effect, and each effect send has its own knob.

Note: For some unknown reason sysex control of the effects only works when the Proteus 2000 is set to "Master FX" mode.

Update: I've just added some basic sysex control of the arpeggiator. Also, when you change MIDI channels with the environment's "CHANNEL" button, the P2k's display now changes as well.

If you have any problems getting this environment to work, please feel free to e-mail me.

Enjoy....

Cheers,  Andy M.
